Basses FB - 00022 1953 Fender
Precision Bass VG - The body date on this one
is 5-30-53. Many changes and modifications. Natural refinish.
Some 'contouring' done to the body
perhaps for a female player. It IS more comfortable than the straight slab.
The back is pretty clean.
The pickup is original and
the knobs and knob
coverplate also seem to be original. The finger rest could be as well.
Bad Ass bridge and Mighty
Mite reproduction neck that
feels great and shows plenty of
wear on the back. Nice decal on the headstock and proper tuning pegs. This old bass
feels great and sounds great too. Good quality leather-like gig bag.
Other
Slabs of Wood TG - 00100 2003 Tenor
Stratocaster EXC +++ There's one little nick in
the finish near the neck pocket but other than that it's almost mint. I
had this one made by Joel Eckhaus in 2003 using a stock strat body and
Joel built and fitted the neck. Only the inner four poles are used and this
gives it a wonderful balance with no 'over prominent bass tones' on the low string
from which many electric tenor guitars suffer.
It plays fantastically and sounds just like
a strat ... well, a tenor strat. White
pickguard and electronics on a black body and we found a Fender logo to put on the
headstock (shhh!) and standard type tuning pegs.
You'll be the only one on the block with a 'tenor strat' and I've had
many people come up at gigs be convinced it was a 'real Fender'. Standard
23" scale length. Gig bag.
IB - 0003 1973 -74 Ibanez
Custom Agent Model 2405 EXC + Alright folks this is
one you don't see often and it's the perfect axe for the true vintage
afficionado. This is the second one we've managed to acquire.
It combines some of the greatest elements of the
Gibson F-5 Mandolin (headstock)
, the Gibson Style 5 Mastertone Banjo (fingerboard inlays), and the Gibson Les Paul
(flame maple body and
humbucking pickups) with suburst maple back.
Gibson had gone down the tubes under Norlin management in the seventies and
Ibanez was the leading Japanese "lawsuit recipient" making the best quality
copies of Les Pauls, L-5's, ES-175's etc. But this one is the cream of the
crop.
It's not a copy .... it's an homage!
It looks like real Pearl Inlay set into the
top below the stop tailpiece but it's actually some sort of goofy plastic.
But hey, I won't tell. Original
tuning pegs. This is an exquisite original example
of the most desireable model and it has
that great dark powerful Les Paul sound. Original hard shell case.
