  • ca. 1910 The Dayton 5 String Banjo. EXC Serial #809 Here is a rare item. I have seen a few Dayton mandolins and a couple of banjo mandolins but this is the only 5 string Dayton banjo I have ever run across.
The metal head is a unique feature also found on some MacFarland and other banjos of the early 1900's. It has a sweet eerie sound. The elevated extended fingerboard gives it 26 frets. 26 1/2" scale length.
I got it out of the closet recently to discover that the tailpiece has cracked. Thus I am offering it at a reduced price and the new owner can decide what type of replacement tailpiece they would like to use. Chipboard case.
    Price   $2500.00 **REDUCED ** to $1695.00
