Lloyd Loar signed 1924 Gibson Master Model L-5 Guitar
1924 "Lloyd
Loar" Gibson L-5 VG+
Master Model Label with addtional
signature label Signed and dated March 31, 1924 by acoustic engineer,
Lloyd Loar. Serial #76710. This is an all original instrument that has yet to
be documented in the F-5 Journal in which you will find 174 signed mandolins,
14 signed mandolas, 5 signed mandocellos and 12 signed guitars. Well, ... make
that 13. It's the classic Holy Grail find ... straight from the family of the
original owner through an estate buyer to us. It's never been 'messed with'
or altered in any way and still has its original Virzi Tone Producer intact.
It's just been played and appreciated all these years. We had the neck reset
by master luthier Chris Berkov who also replaced a small piece of binding on
the headstock that had been lost along the way. Classic sunburst spruce top and birch back like most Loar L-5's.
Here' a full back shot. Beautiful
flame maple neck. Original
tuning pegs,
pickguard, bridge and tailpiece, and the classic flowerpot inlaid
headstock. This is the best sounding archtop guitar I've ever had and it
will be the only one you need it you are lucky enough to be its next owner.
It still resides, as it always has, in its original hard shell case.
